Elvis has left the building!

A late invitation to a 70's house party left me wondering what to wear, as I haven't kept my Loons or Cheesecloth shirts! Fortunately (?), my good friend Ian Hunter had entered an Elvis singing competition last year, and still had all the gear.

It was a great night, and our hosts (another) Ian and Jenny had really gone to town, with high tech disco lights, tasty 70's food and 9 hours of music!

As you can see, everyone got into the spirit (literally in some cases!)

I'd forgotten how hard it is to dance in platform shoes, though!

Good job I didn't fall off them - that would have put paid to the training walks. Talking of which....

For various reasons, a number of the team couldn't make Sunday's "New Year Turkey-Buster", however Nicola, Janet & I made an early start to tackle a 12.75 mile circuit around the Lyme Park area, starting from Disley & getting as far as the outskirts of Bollington.

The girls had just been chased by a couple of ponies at this point!

Judging by the numerous piles of bones around, some of the sheep didn't seem to have escaped quite so easily, although I think it was more likely foxes to blame than ponies!

Throughout much of the walk we could see Lyme Park's 'Cage' in the distance. This tower stands on a hill to the east of the approach road to the house, and was originally a hunting lodge. It was later used as a park-keeper's cottage and also as a prison.

The views over Cheshire were pretty good for this time of year too.

Happy New Year everyone!
